Faith and Tech (From Substack)
For nearly four decades, I’ve had the privilege of serving the Lord through pastoral ministry, preaching the Word, walking with families through joy and sorrow, and watching the Church evolve in both form and function. I’ve seen flannel boards give way to PowerPoint, cassette tapes replaced by podcasts, and handwritten sermon notes transformed into searchable digital archives. Through it all, one truth has remained: we serve a great God, and He is worthy of our best.
That conviction is what led me to launch Faith and Tech — a space where biblical depth meets practical tools, where encouragement and challenge walk hand in hand, and where ministry leaders can find resources that speak both to the soul and to the systems we use to serve.
A Ministry of Encouragement and Challenge
My heart for this blog is simple: to encourage, uplift, and challenge. Ministry is not for the faint of heart. Whether you're a seasoned pastor, a bivocational leader, a tech volunteer, or someone just beginning to explore your calling, you’ve likely felt the weight of responsibility of ministry and the need for renewal. I want this space to be a breath of fresh air — a place where you can find biblical insights that stir your heart, illustrations that spark your imagination, and tools that lighten your load.
Expect posts that dig into Scripture with clarity and conviction. I’ll share devotionals, sermon outlines, and reflections that aim to provoke thought and deepen faith. But I won’t stop there. I also want to challenge us — to think critically about how we communicate the gospel in a digital age, to evaluate the tools we use, and to ask whether we’re truly stewarding our gifts and resources for maximum impact.
Why Tech Matters in Ministry
Some might ask, “Why mix faith and tech?” Isn’t the gospel enough on its own?
Absolutely — the gospel is sufficient, powerful, and eternal. But the way we deliver it matters. Jesus spoke in parables that resonated with His audience. Paul quoted poets and philosophers to connect with the culture of his day. And today, we live in a world shaped by screens, software, and streaming. If we want to reach hearts, we must also speak the language of the times. For the unconvinced, can you imagine going to Brazil without an interpreter and attempting to deliver the greatest news ever spoken to mankind but not being able to because of the language barrier?
Technology is not a replacement for truth — it’s a vehicle. And when used wisely, it can amplify the message, extend our reach, and enhance the worship experience. That’s why I’ve spent years learning, testing, and implementing tech tools in ministry settings. From worship software to sermon prep apps, from audio mixers to video switchers, I’ve seen firsthand how the right tools can transform a service, clarify a message, and support the work of the gospel.

A Word of Caution (and a Promise)
For clarity’s Sake: Faith and Tech is not about over-promising and under-delivering. I won’t pretend to have all the answers or offer one-size-fits-all solutions. Ministry is complex, and every context is different. But I do promise to give it my best effort to bring the full weight of my experience — nearly 40 years of combining biblical truth with technological tools — to serve you with integrity, clarity, and care.
I’ll share what’s worked for me, what I’ve learned from others, and what I believe can help you serve more effectively. And if I don’t know something, I’ll research it, test it, and report back honestly. This is a journey we’re on together.
Speaking the Language of Today
We live in a world where attention is fleeting, screens are everywhere, and digital literacy is essential. If we want to reach the next generation, we must speak their language — not by compromising truth, but by communicating it clearly and creatively.
That’s my wish. To help pastors, teachers, and ministry leaders speak the language of today without losing the timeless message of the gospel. To equip the Church with tools that enhance rather than distract. To remind us that excellence in ministry is not about perfection, but about faithfulness that Jesus says leads to fruitfulness — doing our best with what we’ve been given, for the glory of the One who gave it.
